Dr. Carol L. Adams-Means

Dr. Carol L. Adams-Means is an Associate Professor of Communication at Huston-Tillotson University. She holds Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. She is academically qualified (AQ) with a post-doctorate in Marketing & Management from the Hough Graduate School of Business, Warrington College of Business at The University of Florida at Gainesville. She also has a Certificate in Biomedical Communication from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from The University of Houston.
 
Dr. Adams-Means’ media experience includes commercial and public radio and television, advertising and public relations. She became a college professor at Prairie View A & M University in 1982, where she also served as their first news director for station KPVU-FM, 91.3.
 
From June 2011 to June 2012, she served as President of the Texas Association of Broadcast Educators and was Vice-President from June 2010 to June 2011.
 
She has received numerous prestigious fellowships and awards including the UNCF/Mellon Faculty Fellowship, Dow Jones News Fund Minority Multimedia Faculty fellowship at Western Kentucky University, Poynter Institute, Freedom Forum, Faculty Resource Network New York University, National Security Education Program – Russian & Ukrainian Studies, National Association of Television Program Executives, Women of Color in Leadership Program of the National Women’s Studies Association, Women in Communication Technology, FOCUS Fellows at Georgia Tech, Walter Kaitz Foundation, Aspen Institute, KPMG Foundation – PhD Project and other awards.
 
She was recognized by the International Olympic Committee and Atlanta Olympic Broadcasting for her efforts in student training and service for the 1996 International Olympic Games where she also worked for Atlanta Olympic Broadcasting. She began her career as a college professor in 1982. She is a fifth generation Texan.

Dr. Cervantes has a background in physical education, adapted physical education and physical activity promotion. Dr. Cervantes has a number of peer-reviewed publications in the area of physical education. He served as the Assistant Teacher, Eugenio M. De Hostos High School (Title I), Department of Education District of Mayaguez, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; Adjunct Faculty, Health and Sports Science Department. Capital University, Columbus, Ohio; Assistant Professor, Department of Health and Human Performance, Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas; and is currently Assistant Professor and Chair, Department of Kinesiology, Huston-Tillotson University

 

Dr. Rhonda Moses

Higher Education Administrator

Dr. Rhonda Moses is currently the Dean of Enrollment Management at Huston-Tillotson University.  Dr. Moses has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, a Master’s degree in Education Administration with a focus on higher education, a Post-Master’s Certification in Enrollment Management via Rufalo Noel Levitz and Capella University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  Dr. Moses has dedicated her career to college-readiness and student success programs (i.e. Living and Learning Communities, Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Student Support Services, Ronald E. McNair) and has conducted extensive research in the area of “African American and Latino Retention in Higher Education”. Dr. Moses has taught the following subject matter: Sociology, College Algebra, Introduction to Statistics, and  First Year Experience.

Computer Information Systems professional with background in Educational programs; Systems and Instructional hardware and software adaptation in teaching and learning; Design, Support, and Installation to enhance activities in areas such as curriculum development, students assessment, student advisement, and program assessment. Dr. Okpalaeze has proven ability to provide quality education for the promotion of CS/CIS education programs through direct hands on training,
